This is beautiful ebony wood, which can sometimes have occasional banding of dark brown and black shades, referred to as tiger ebony. These particular beads are extra special in that they carry a decorative inlay of white makabibi shell. There is one on each side of the bead adding elegant white iridescent shimmer. Since the inlay is a natural material which is hand-set, please allow for some variation. These are a little bit smaller than the other inlaid octagon shaped beads that we carry, so they may be more versatile for your designs. Wood beads look great with a wide variety of metals. Try pairing them with semiprecious stones, shell, bone, and other natural materials. And, a bonus, the larger holed beads are perfect for crochet, macrame, and craft projects.
